When you turn Smart to Compose on, Gmail will give what they call “predictive writing suggestions” as you compose an email. And because Google loves AI and machine learning, this Smart Compose does get smarter as it goes along!
Smart Compose will offer predicted text, and if it’s right, you can just hit the tab key to accept the predicted text they offered. Don’t like what Gmail is guessing? Just keep typing! This is a smart way to save time as you compose those many emails throughout your day. To activate, go to your Gmail Settings, and on the General tab where it says Smart Compose, mark the box for Writing Suggestions On. Time-saver! Check it out!
